I had seen Circle of Sound speakers before I bought The Apex but it didn't all come togther until I actually started living the MCM lifestyle. There are lots of Circle of Sound speakers on eBay with a range of prices and shipping fees. I made my selection and bought a pair. Because I no longer had an amp/receiver I ordered up a Pyle amp from Amazon. I hooked everything up and sat down to listen. It sounded awful.
I didn't know what to expect because the speakers were so old. The speakers themselves (the speakers inside the cool looking enclosures) were basically fried. The paper cones were dry and disconnected from the speaker frames. I can't say I was really surprised but I was disappointed. I turned to the Googles (did I mentionthat I'm a Google guy?), foud suitable replacements, order a pair, and waited patiently for them to arrive.
I replaced the original speakers, added new speaker wire, and hooked them up to the Pyle amp. This time they souded like a different kid of bad. The speakers buzzed when I turned on the amp and were very flat when I played my test song. I turned everything off and lamented my decision to buy these vintage speakers.
I spoke with a friend about what was going on and he reminded me that I had given him my old Technics reciever and that he wasn't using it. We met up, he handed off the receiver, and I rushed home (obeying the speed limit of course). I hooked up the speakers, switched on the receiver, watched the lights dim, and played the test song. The Circle of Sound speakers with the replacement sounded great! The sound ws rich and warm and there was no buzz. I connected one of my old Chromecast Audio devices to the receiver, added the Circle of Sound Speakers to my speaker group in Google Home, and am now enjoying my favorite music through these upgraded vintage speakers.
